Unless there are twists and turns (which can never be ruled out), the next local elections are a year and a half away, day more, day less. But Cateno De Luca is already “hot”, you can perceive it from the continuous interventions, from the way in which he presses his followers and from the tones – once again over the top – which he uses to lash out at new and old enemies. So hot that today he will launch a sort of prologue to the upcoming electoral campaign, with a press conference with mysterious contents (“The path to Messina 2027-2032 begins”), in which surprise announcements are not excluded, including on possible new entries from other parties.
In the meantime, however, there is the distant clash with the provincial secretary of the Democratic Party, Armando Hyerace, which enlivens Monday morning. Hyerace had teased the leaders of South Calls North about the “subordinate” relationship between Federico Basile and the leader Cateno De Luca. The latter responds in his own way, stating without great diplomacy that Hyerace “should say thank you for having obtained a job at the Municipality of Messina following a public selection initiated by Mayor Basile, after Mayor De Luca refused to declare the financial collapse, much invoked by the Democratic Party”. No fair play, just low blows.
