Messina is preparing to host, on Sunday 4 May at 7pm in the Cathedral, the choral concert of the King’s College School Choral Society of the United Kingdom, directed by James Rendel and accompanied to the organ by Will Mason.
Founded in 1996 as in Voco Parentis, the King’s College School Choral Society is a choir of parents and friends of the King’s College School of Cambridge, British training, considered one of the most established and famous representatives of the great English choral tradition. It was created by King Henry VI, who founded King’s College in Cambridge in 1441, to provide for daily songs in his chapel, which continues to be the main task of the choir.
The King’s College School Choral Society tries weekly and has a varied repertoire of music, including Fauré’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem and Haydn’s Nelson Mass, as well as contemporary songs. The formation often performs abroad.
The program of the concert with free admission, inserted in the billboard Harmonies of the Spirit Easter 2025 Promoted by the archdiocese of Messina Lipari Santa Lucia del Mela under the artistic direction of Don Giovanni Lombardo, it includes music by Mozart, Viene, Palestrina, Gjeilo, Batten, Howells.
