Lillo Valvieri began the presentation of the key points of his civic list, focusing on a method based on direct listening. Through citizen reports, field checks and video testimonies, the program aims to respond to the city’s real critical issues with solutions verified directly on site.
No to the cycle path on the pavement of the Duomo
One of the hottest topics concerns the area of the Cathedral of Messina. Valvieri expressed clear dissent towards the cycle path being built on the lava pavement. According to the promoter, the work would be inadequate and disrespectful of the historical and identity value of one of the most important monumental complexes in the city, requiring interventions more in line with the architectural context.
Cruise tourism: enhancing the port and the former fair
The focus then shifted to the management of tourist flows. Despite over 300,000 cruise passengers annually, the local economy does not fully benefit from this step. Valvieri’s proposal aims to retain visitors in Messina by enhancing the food and wine and commercial offer, identifying the area of the former Fair as the ideal place for a strategic attraction centre.
Spaces for families: the return of the Baby Park
To respond to the historic lack of meeting areas, the program envisages the restoration of a real Baby Park. An amusement park dedicated to children and families that can give citizens a space for leisure and socializing that is currently missing in the urban fabric.
Infrastructure and roads: the coverage of the Annunziata stream
Messina Lillo Valvieri. An infrastructural intervention considered necessary to decongest city traffic, allowing the widening of the roadway in one of the most critical points for urban circulation.
