Messina, reshuffle and resignation in… Cateno, “phase two” begins at Palazzo Zanca

Rather than a chain resignation, at Palazzo Zanca, we can rightly speak of resignation at… Cateno. Beyond the easy play on words, the basis of the long and varied reshuffle – especially in the investee companies – underway in the Basile administration is the will of the leader of South calls North. Cateno De Luca he wanted to stir things up and send messages to his team, in a particularly delicate moment of political repositioning and also of alarm bells. The waters are certainly moving, only time will tell how much all this will bring in terms of results.
The mayor Federico Basileat least apparently, he accepted without suffering and therefore shared the moves desired by his predecessor, defending at every opportunity the narrative according to which it is part of the normality of things that certain inputs come from the political leader of a team, and South calling North is no exception, «with the difference that we are a single party and we must not agree on our choices with other parties», the mantra of Basile and De Luca.
The first of these moves, the most turbulent, was the one that led to the reset of the entire Amam board of directors, just a few days after the resignation of the general director (by the way, the choice of the replacement has not yet been formalized and will have to wait, but the rumors revolve around a run-off between Luciano Taranto and Davide Maimone). Then it was the turn of ATM, albeit with decidedly less traumatic ways and “tones”: here the only real farewell was that of the former councilor Salvatore Ingegneri, who had long been a foreign body on the board of directors of the transport company.
However, unlike what was expected, the appointment of successors did not arrive last weekend. Given that there are few doubts about the choice of president – Carla Grillo, who earned her promotion on the pitch as Campagna’s “number two” -, the appointment decree should arrive this week. There is not yet even the decree appointing Pippo Campagna himself as general director of the metropolitan city, although the presentation press conference has already been held. No “mystery”, assures the mayor, nor any risk of incompatibility with the presidency of Asm, the multi-service company of Taormina. It cannot be ruled out, however, that what caused the delay was the concomitant rejection of the ATM supplementary contract by the transport company’s employees, a setback that the Board of Directors did not expect and which Campagna apparently did not like at all.
