Uil-Fpl and Silpol with a note signed by their respective representatives urge the mayor of Messina, Federico Basile, to unblock the procedures with the publication of the final ranking since the competition formally ended with the oral tests held last 30 October.

“The undersigned trade union organizations denounce with firmness and strong concern the umpteenth and unacceptable situation of administrative stalemate relating to the public competition for 100 Municipal Police Officers of the Municipality of Messina, announced on 16 April 2024. The competition which includes a further 22 fixed-term positions from the Security Funds of the Ministry of the Interior followed a long and detailed process concluded with the oral test carried out from 30 October to 20 December 2025. To date, inexplicably, the final ranking has not yet been published, despite all the competition procedures having been concluded months ago”.

Livio Andronico and Emilio Di Stefano (respectively general secretary and provincial coordinator of Uil-Fpl Messina) and Pippo Gemellaro, Silpol secretary, wrote this in a note.

“This delay appears completely unjustified, especially when compared with what happened in other Sicilian areas: in the Municipality of Catania, the competition for 80 Municipal Police Officers, announced on 4 June 2024, was completed within the year, with the final ranking published on 20 January 2025 and entry into service on 27 January 2025. In the municipality of Messina, however, it continues to be postponed without providing any official explanation, despite a now chronic structural shortage of personnel. The Municipal Police staff is seriously undersized in relation to the numbers expected for one of the largest metropolitan cities in Italy, an average age of operators close to 60, numerous retirements that have already occurred and others imminent. It is unacceptable that, in a context of recognized structural/operational emergency, the Administration, in addition to having queued this among the competitions carried out, continues to not proceed with the entry into service of personnel already selected through competition. public. This inertia constitutes a serious administrative responsibility, which risks further compromising urban safety, the regularity of services, the control of the territory and the very credibility of the organisation. We urgently request: the immediate publication of the final ranking of the competition;

The declaration of the general director Salvo Puccio

“The ranking – declared the general director Salvo Puccio – will be published tomorrow on the ministerial platform, which for technical reasons had remained blocked until yesterday. Once published, the notifications of the calls for medical visits will begin and then we will proceed with the signing of the contracts”.
