The modernization and energy efficiency plan for the municipal assets of Messina continues. The maintenance services department has adopted the award determination for the works at the “Salvatore Santamaria” Athletics Field (Ex GIL), for an amount of 284,042.89 euros plus VAT (out of an overall economic framework of 495,000 euros), financed by the PN Metro Plus and Città Medie Sud 2021-2027.
The contract was awarded to the company General Construction and Engineering Services Srlwith an expected duration of the works of 150 natural and consecutive days. In the next few days the contract will be signed and the construction site will be delivered.
The planned interventions:
- Renewable sources: Installation of a 19.50 kWp photovoltaic system with storage and a solar thermal system with heat pumps for domestic hot water.
- Lighting: Relamping LED lights in the buildings and modernization of the floodlights on the athletics track’s light towers.
- Insulation: Replacement of old windows with high-performance thermal break aluminum windows.
The intervention will guarantee a reduction in electricity consumption estimated between 30% and 40%, improving comfort for athletes and citizens as part of a broader 20 million euro plan dedicated to the ecological transition of municipal buildings.
