A snapshot of the current state of the job market in the province of Messina. A summary of the changes and evolution of employment, unemployment and the needs of the fragile areas of the territory. It’s all in the social report that Messina’s INPS presented this morning in the Hall of Mirrors of the metropolitan city. The figures that emerge raise the alarm of young people leaving, a phenomenon that has become current again in our territory: 832, between 18 and 39 years old, while overall there are over 1,300 emigrants. And among this there is a sharp increase in those between 40 and over 65. There are instead 908 immigrants.

The data processed refers to 2024, but represents a complete picture. There is a positive balance in employment, but it is a figure that must be read in its entirety. In fact, hirings are growing more than terminations but they are fixed-term employment relationships and many are part time, 41% of total employees, the highest figure both at a regional and national level.
