The 22nd edition of the Horcynus Festival, under the artistic direction of F, continues in the splendid setting of Capo Peloro.ranco Jannuzzi, Erfan Rashid, Giacomo Farina and Luigi Polimeni.

It will be a particularly intense week for the Festival, which will end on August 8, with numerous and prestigious cinematographic, literary and musical events.

Today July 25th at 9.00pm the Horcynus Orca Award will be given to the great director and screenwriter Ken Loach who will connect with the Festival.

Following, “The Old Oak” will be screened, his latest work. This film by Loach takes its name from a pub, which is the only place open in a former mining town in the North East of England and is also the only public place to meet and connect with others. However, something risks changing – and crumbling – when the neighborhood welcomes some Syrian refugees. TJ Ballantyne, its soul and manager, risks losing his regular customers and understands, not only for his own needs, that he has the duty to ensure that the two communities must know each other, compare themselves and learn to live together.

In recent days, the Horcynus Orca Award was assigned to the actor, director and critic Adriano Aprà, who recently passed away. His wife, Stefania Parigi, collected the award. The concert by Radiodervish, accompanied by Faisal Taher, was also a great success with the public.

These are the other events of the week:

Friday 26th July at 9:00 p.m., also from the Berlin Film Festival, “Alcarras: The Last Harvest” by Carla Simòn is scheduled: in the sunny countryside of Catalonia, the Solé family has lived and cultivated for decades a large orchard that was offered to them after the civil war by the owners, the Pinyol family. A gesture of honor in reward for crucial help, but never signed with official documents. The Solés therefore find themselves helpless when vans loaded with solar panels arrive on the land, ready to convert the orchard and eliminate the only activity the family has ever known.

This film was awarded at the Berlin Film Festival, received 3 nominations at the European Film Awards and 10 nominations at the Goya Awards.

Saturday 27th July at 9.00 pm there will be music with Pelorias Sea Sounds, a project of the Messina record label Tuma Records created in collaboration with Onda pop (Crox concerts and Mind Palermo). The bands Curramore, Anet, Basiliscus P, Chris obehi and Veeble will perform.

Finally, from Sunday 28 to Tuesday 30 July, “La Nueva Ola” is scheduled, the Spanish and Latin American Film Festival curated by Federico Sartori and Iris Martín-Peralta (Exit Media).

All events will take place at the Horcynus Orca Park in Capo Peloro and have free admission.
