The inaugural ceremony of the Academic Year of the Corelli Conservatory of Messina will be held on Tuesday 18 November starting at 6.30 pm at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele. The details of the inauguration, which will see the intervention of Senator Maria Alessandra Gallone, Afam delegate (Higher artistic, musical and dance education) of the Ministry of University and Research, were illustrated today during a press conference held in the Theatre’s bookshop.

Present at the meeting with journalists were the president of Corelli Egidio Bernava Morante, the director Maestro Antonino Averna, the deputy director Matteo Pappalardo, the member of the Board of Directors Carmelo Mobilia and the president of the Ente Teatro Vittorio Emanuele Orazio Miloro. “The Conservatory is the institution of high education in music in the city and for the city – declared president Bernava – We can define it as the university of music and it is a source of great pride for us to inaugurate the academic year with an event that will end with the concert of the Corelli Symphony Orchestra. There will be 60 students on stage and it will be a joy to listen to them. I underline that the Conservatory is not only opera, but also pop, rock, jazz and much, much more. It is no coincidence that we wanted the inauguration to be open to the whole city and we invite everyone to the Vittorio Emanuele”.

For the first time, the concert of the Corelli Symphony Orchestra will be conducted, as explained by maestro Antonino Averna, by two students of the Conservatory, Coralie Camuti and Antonino Scandurra. “The Corelli is the only conservatory in Sicily, together with Palermo, to have a course of conductors, a source of pride for the city – added Averna – There will also be two soloists, Maria Chiara Giordano on the horn and Andrea Cannata on the piano”.

With the ceremony on Tuesday 18 November, the synergy between Corelli and Vittorio Emanuele is consolidated, as underlined by president Orazio Miloro: “A dialogue and an important path with the high institution that deals with musical education. The inauguration will also be a way to meet those students who, we hope, will be future protagonists of the Theater stage”. The synergy between Theater and Conservatory will lead to the co-production, in 2026, of Rigoletto, scheduled at the Vittorio Emanuele, the result of a collaboration that has already recorded important success with the Cavalleria Rusticana. The inauguration on Tuesday 18th will begin at 6.30pm with speeches from the Corelli governance and the authorities. Followed by the long-awaited concert by the Corelli Symphony Orchestra (music by R.Strauss and Beethoven. Entrance is free.
