Palumbo Shipyards, at its shipyard in Messina, has completed the work to restore the functionality of the GP30 port boat of the Messina Military Arsenal, as part of the procedure announced by the Defense Industries Agency. The conclusion of the intervention allows the Messina Military Arsenal to return to using its basin, returning full operation to a strategic infrastructure for the maintenance and support activities of the Navy’s naval units.
The works, completed in approximately 60 days, required significant intervention from a technical point of view. Over 40 tons of steel were replaced, as well as valves, pipes and other essential components, with important carpentry, plant engineering and surface treatment activities aimed at completely recovering the functionality of the port boat.
The complexity of the intervention required specialist skills, organizational skills and qualified professionalism, allowing an activity of particular technical importance to be completed in a short time.
The intervention is part of the industrial path started by Palumbo in Messina in 2006. «In almost twenty years of activity – we read in a note – the Group has consolidated a stable presence in the city, contributing to maintaining and developing skills, professionalism and production capacity linked to its shipbuilding tradition».
