During the work of the City Council meeting this afternoon, Thursday 24 October, the Executive of Palazzo Zanca approved the proposed settlement agreement to put an end to a dispute that has kept the Municipality of Messina apprehensive for a long time before to the Specialized Business Section of the Court of Palermo.

The dispute concerned the payment of accounting reserves, inherent to the execution of the tender relating to the contract stipulated with the Ricciardello Costruzioni Srl for the construction of the first and second lot of the Giostra interchanges for an amount of approximately 80 million euros, plus interest. Today’s agreement approved by the Basile Council provides for a payment of a total of 13 million five hundred thousand euros including interest which the Municipality will pay in installments by 12.31.2025. After the vain attempts to reach amicable agreements which have followed one another since 2015, during the Accorinti administration, thanks to the defense of the lawyer Silvia Gambadoro and the constant support from the Litigation Councilor Roberto Cicalaof the general director of the Municipality Except Puccio and of the mayor Federico Basilealso through his delegation to the budget, with commitment and effort, a definitive solution was found to turn the page and save the Municipality of Messina from a dangerous dispute. “Today the Municipality is moving forward with greater serenity on an economic level”, declares the mayor Federico Basile.
