Vincenzo Aiello, adjutant sergeant major of the Italian army, who disappeared yesterday during an exercise on Lake Bolsena, has been found lifeless. The body of the soldier, 45 years old and originally from Catanzarowas identified at 25 meters deep by divers from the Florence fire brigade, after intense searches. Aiello, who belonged to the 185th Target Acquisition Reconnaissance Parachute Regiment of the Folgore (Rrao), was taking part in a low-altitude helicopter water launch exercise. The search operations, hampered by weather conditions and the vastness of the lake, saw the use of drones, sonar and air support from the firefighters.
The army chief of staff, Carmine Masiello, expressed the condolences of the military family: “The whole army rallies around their loved ones in this moment of great pain”. Aiello was not married and had no children; His passing has left a deep void among his colleagues in the department and in the military community.
