The Port System Authority of the Strait announced the Completion of the works for the new passenger terminal located at the Rizzo quay of the port of Messina. The project, currently under the final testing, is preparatory to the release of the concession to companies that will manage the services to passengers. The intervention, carried out by the Antium Costruzioni Srl company with an investment of about 320 thousand euros, is part of a larger plan for modernization of port infrastructures, intended to serve millions of passengers, commuters of the Strait and tourists directed to the Aeolian Islands. The new terminal introduces significant improvements and news, including the creation of new 70 sqm ticket office, Equipped with five workstations, and a new air -conditioned waiting room with 32 seats, complete with toilets. The existing waiting room (60 square meters) has also been redeveloped, now equipped with anti -crossing flooring, new lighting and air conditioning system, and enriched with 40 new sessions. The project also includes the construction of a new coverage, integrated to the existing pedestrian path, to guarantee protection from the weather, and the furnishing of the outdoor area with benches and portarifiuti baskets, to improve the welcome and functionality of the spaces.
