To protect public quiet and respond concretely to the requests of the residents of UNRARRA villageThe Municipality of Messina – Urban Mobility Service has adopted a road order that establishes, in the time slot 23.00 – 7.00, the ban on transit for vehicles with full load mass exceeding 3.5 tons along via Contessa Violante and via Contessa Eleonora, at Villaggio Unrara. The measure made itself necessary to contain the sound emissions caused by the passage of the means of work engaged in the transport of excavation materials from the RFI construction site for the railway railway Giampilieri-Fiumefreddo and directed to the storage site of Contensses. The intervention is in line with the provisions of the DCPM 1 March 1991 and the municipal regulation on the acoustic zoning of the Messina territory.
The order provides:
the installation of the vertical ban on prohibition in the interested streets, near the intersections with via Calispera;
the placement of warning signs in via Contesse, at the height of the intersections with the streets Adolfo Celi, Consolare Valeria and Marco Polo;
Check by the municipal police force to ensure compliance with the ban.
“With this provision – comments the mayor Federico Basile – we wanted to give a concrete and immediate response to the legitimate requests of the residents of the area affected by the works, protecting the right to night rest, which cannot be put in the background compared to the creation of great works. The railway doubling is certainly a strategic intervention for our territory, but must proceed in balance with the quality of the life of the citizens. Through the land owned by the IPAB, as we proposed and obtained by RFI, it was considered necessary to intervene to guarantee correct coexistence between infrastructure development and protection of local communities “. The administration will continue to monitor the situation to evaluate further interventions to protect the livability of the areas concerned.
