Another singular episode at the Messina Polyclinic. After the incursion recorded a few months ago inside the emergency room, an equally incredible scene occurred in the atrium of pavilion H.

A middle-aged man entered the healthcare facility by pushing his scooter into the internal area, under the astonished eyes of patients, family members and staff. The vehicle, a red moped, was driven through the common areas of the structure, in an area intended exclusively for pedestrian transit. The hospital company immediately started investigations to understand how this could have happened.

A gesture that has no plausible explanation and which immediately aroused curiosity but also indignation among the visitors present. Some of them wasted no time and immortalized the scene with their cell phones, documenting what happened.

It is not the first time that similar incidents have occurred within the hospital. In fact, just a few months ago, another case had caused a stir when a vehicle was introduced into the emergency room area and the owner had used the electricity to recharge the battery, raising questions about the surveillance and access control measures.

Formal warning from AOU G. Martino for behavior that does not comply with internal regulations

In relation to what was reported, with the presence of a person who was seen pushing an electric scooter inside the atrium of pavilion H, the AOU G. Martino specifies that procedures to ascertain what happened have been started since yesterday.

“From the initial checks – we read in the note released by the company – it would appear that the author of the gesture is neither an employee of the company nor a user, but an operator of a service company that operates within the hospital. The Management has forwarded a formal complaint to the companies providing for the application of the penalties foreseen for the lack of supervision and for the adoption of behavior completely contrary to the codes of conduct.

Furthermore, all the necessary actions have been initiated to ensure that any operator is formally warned against engaging in behavior that does not comply with internal regulations and safety standards and further investigations are still underway for a precise reconstruction of the facts. It cannot be ruled out, among other things, that the episode may have occurred during the night and that the subject was in the process of leaving the facility.

All sanctioning measures will be taken against violators. The Administrative Director, Dr. Elvira Amata, reiterates the AOU’s constant commitment to ensuring safety, order and respect for the rules within its spaces, to protect patients, workers and all those who access the facility on a daily basis, in the knowledge that every day thousands of people are present and pass through, including employees, users, healthcare workers and staff belonging to external companies who, in various capacities, operate within the pavilions”.
