2023 is coming to an end and it seems to be closing in a more than positive way for Messina’s youth sector, fresh from a weekend that confirmed the depth of the white shield teams. Two days left to close the first round of the Spring 4, Under 17 and Under 15 National tournaments.

Carmelo Mancuso’s team earned a draw on Saturday in Brindisi which leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Many, even too many, opportunities wasted by Messina’s Primavera, close to scoring with Romano on both occasions, the last one with two to go. It ends 0-0 at the “Franco Fanuzzi” precamp.

A Sunday of great crossroads at the “L’ambiente Stadium” for the double challenge between Messina and Avellino in the Under 15 and Under 17 championships. The first round was won by the hosts coached by Mimmi Moschella who, thanks to the final 2-0, moved ahead of the Irpinia team in the standings and moved to -1 from third place. The striker born in 2009 Gabriele Loria was decisive with a brace.

Expectations confirmed at lunchtime in the clash between third and second in the National Under 17 championship. Messina and Avellino battle and compete head-on in via Polveriera but in the end neither of them manages to prevail. Campani took the lead just before the quarter of an hour with Mancini’s header. Messina never subdued, dangerous on several occasions and often contained by the opposing goalkeeper Castiglia. 10′ from the end Sottile earns a penalty which Nicola Viola transforms into the final 1-1.

Next Saturday the Primavera will host Monterosi while the Under 15s and Under 17s will travel to Taranto for the last away match of 2023.
