They were documenting the damage of the bad weather live when an SUV hit them in front of the camera that was on. It happened in Monterrey, in the Mexican state of Nuevo León, where the journalist Alma de la Rosa Flores and the cameraman Cristo Morales, of the local broadcaster Gamavisión, were injured during a connection.

The accident occurred on Friday 2 October, around 8 am, on Avenida Morones Prieto, in the Nuevo Repueblo neighborhood. The crew was reporting on a landslide caused by the intense rains that have been hitting the metropolitan area for days.

The dynamics

According to initial reconstructions by local media, a dark-coloured Jeep Patriot lost control after being squeezed by another vehicle, skidding on the wet asphalt until it hit the two operators. The scene, filmed by the crew’s own camera, went viral on social media.

The two were rescued on site by the Civil Protection and transferred to hospital. An official bulletin is not yet available: the first information speaks of bruises for the journalist and a suspected leg fracture for the cameraman, both in stable conditions and under observation.
