Milan. Bitter evening for Milan who lost 3-1 at home to Borussia Dortmund. At San Siro Giroud misses a penalty and Chukwueze responds to Reus in the first half. In the second half Bynoe-Gittens and Adeyemi close the scores. At the start Chukwueze immediately takes center stage when he breaks through the middle and unleashes a shot that hits Schlotterbeck’s arm. For Kovacs it was a penalty, but in the challenge from eleven meters Kobel hypnotised Giroud and blocked a low shot which was not particularly angled. 5′ pass and the opportunity from the spot also arrives for Dortmund with Bynoe-Gittens who is brought down in the area by Calabria: Reus takes charge of the penalty, Maignan senses it but it’s not enough to avoid the goal.
Down by a goal, Milan feel the pinch and Bynoe-Gittens again causes panic but then fails to find the target. On the other hand, Pulisic tries without luck. In the Rossoneri’s worst moment, another great play from Chukwueze is needed to restore the balance: number 21 enters the area from the right, swerves onto the left foot and, aided by a slight deflection, puts the diagonal shot into the corner hole, causing the stadium to explode and an exceptional fan, Davis’ hero, Jannik Sinner. A few seconds before the break, on Calabria’s head, Milan’s chance to overtake ends not far wide.
Galvanized by the crescendo at the end of the half, the hosts started well in the second half and Ryerson had to oppose Pulisic’s acrobatics with his body. When the Rossoneri’s momentum wanes, Borussia splits the game. Just before the quarter of an hour Fullkrug goes to Sabitzer who first serves Bynoe-Gittens in the area: the Englishman opens the plate and puts Maignan at the near post. Ten minutes later Maignan doesn’t hold onto the ball and lets himself be overtaken by a central shot from substitute Adeyemi for the guest’s trio.
