US President Joe Biden has signed legislation authorizing military aidcrucial to Ukraine's defense from the Russian offensive, saying that Washington will begin sending the first tranche to Kiev within hours.
“I just signed into law the national security package passed by the House of Representatives this weekend, and yesterday by the Senate,” Biden said, adding that he will make sure “that shipments begin immediately, in the next few hours.” “The United States does not allow tyrants to win and does not leave its allies alone,” he continued.
1 billion investment
The Pentagon has announced, confirming press rumors, that the new arms package for Ukraine is worth 1 billion. Among the equipment that will be sent to Kiev's forces in the coming days are air defense systems, artillery shells, armored vehicles and anti-tank weapons.
