Today, around 4pm, the Fire Brigade of the Messina Command intervened to recover two tourists missing in the territory of the island of Liparic IslandsThe team, coming from the island detachment, arrived promptly to rescue them and, given the difficulties in the recovery, requested the intervention of the helicopter of the flight department of Catania.
Given the particular orography of the place, the intervention was carried out by helicopter rescue personnel who, having lowered themselves from the helicopter with the winch, first harnessed and hoisted the woman and then her son on board.
It was a mother with her son, who were hiking on a hill in Lipari, in a hamlet called Lamiand were no longer able to find their way back. Using their cell phones, they were able to call for help. The recovery and rescue operations were successfully concluded around 6:30 p.m.
