Morgantina Archaeological Park, the fourth edition of the Barbablù Fest will take place from 1 to 11 August

The event returns for the fourth consecutive year. Bluebeard Festa music, theatre and storytelling festival, with a calendar full of exceptional cultural proposals that will be held, as always, in Morgantina Archaeological Park (Aidone, Enna), with some events also in Piazza Armerina and Mazzarino.
The festival will take place from 1st to 11th Augustalternating concerts, theatrical performances and cultural meetings. The protagonists are the great author music with Carmen Consoli, Noa, Danilo Rea and the theatre with Tuccio Musumeci and Giuseppe Dipasquale, Giovanni Calcagno and Vincenzo Pirrotta, Silvia Ajelli and Gaia Insenga. Also on the program are cultural events and book presentations, with Felice Cavallaro and Federico Palmaroli “Osho”.
The festival, produced and realized by Terzo Millennio Progetti Artistici, born from an idea by Pietrangelo Buttafuocotakes its name from the Head of Hades, one of the most important archaeological pieces returned to Sicily after being stolen from Morgantina, nicknamed Bluebeard due to the extraordinary blue curls of his beard. The artistic direction is by Alberto SamonàSicilian writer and journalist, in an ideal relay with Giuseppe Dipasquale, who curated the first three editions and was recently called to direct the prestigious Marche Teatro.
“An edition – underlines the artistic director – with prestigious names from the national and international theater and music scene, further enriched by book presentations and meetings of certain interest. I enthusiastically welcomed the proposal of Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, Andrea Peria Giaconia and Giuseppe Dipasquale to direct Barbablù 2024, because I believe it is important to rediscover, with quality cultural and artistic proposals, the memorable places of Central Sicily, such as the magical archaeological site of Morgantina, which together with Villa Romana del Casale has a new director, Carmelo Nicotra. An edition supported and made possible thanks to the commitment of the President of the Region Renato Schifani, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks”.
Let’s go Thursday 1st August with Giuseppe Dipasquale, who inaugurates Bluebeard, bringing on stage La Giara by Luigi Pirandello, performed by Tuccio Musumeciwhich this year celebrated its ninetieth birthday. The strength of the mask, which Musumeci knows how to impress on the character of his characters, will propose a new ‘Zi Dima and this time humorously ferocious in the contest with his opposite alter ego, which is Don Lollò, played by Angelo Tosto.
On Friday 2nd August, in collaboration with the Municipality of Aidone, Morgantina Rivive will be staged: since 2005 the Archeoclub Aidone-Morgantina APS has organized this great event in the archaeological park of Morgantina, now in its 18th edition. This is how the ancient Hellenistic-Roman city comes to life with hundreds of figures who make the polis awaken in all its normal daily life.
Saturday 3 August, The most beautiful phrases of Osho: meeting with Federico Palmaroli, inventor and author of the famous satirical page that in recent years has become one of the most followed on the national scene. Palmaroli “Osho” ​​will converse with Fulvia Toscano, director and founder of the Naxoslegge Festival.
Sunday 4th August will be the turn of Noa, the famous Israeli singer, musician and composer, always committed to peace, UN ambassador and active for rights and peace between Israel and Palestine. A concert to sing about peace and non-violence in difficult times like these, driven by the extraordinary strength of this great artist of our time.
Tuesday 6th August the theatre returns with Giovanna D’Arco by Maria Luisa Spaziani, directed by Silvia Ajelli, on stage together with Gaia Insenga. In this text Maria Luisa Spaziani rewrites the story of the Maid of Orleans, referring to a French school of thought according to which Joan of Arc was the adulterous daughter of Isabella of Bavaria, wife of King Charles VI. The music is composed and performed live by Ermanno Dodaro and Raffaele Pullara. A project by Alfio Scuderi and Silvia Ajelli, in collaboration with the Festival delle Orestiadi.
On Wednesday 7th August the theatre will stage The Epic of Gilgamesh by Giovanni Calcagno, with Vincenzo Pirrotta and Calcagno himself: based on the great Sumerian/Babylonian poem that tells of a young king who, after experiencing the pain of his best friend’s death, leaves the throne to search for the secret of eternal life. Two exceptional interpreters of the Italian theater for a narration that tells this ancient myth.
Thursday 8th August space for Danilo Rea’s piano: his talent involves the audience, ranging over any repertoire, from jazz cornerstones, through Italian songs, to opera arias. With his musical sensitivity, his gentle flair and his creative force, Danilo Rea shapes the melody, opening the doors to infinite possibilities that open up to listeners. A dynamic show in which improvisation is the protagonist, projecting spectators into a world whose paths are still to be discovered.
Saturday 10th August, spotlight on books with journalist Felice Cavallarowhich, introduced by Alberto Samonà, presents Francesca: a volume in which there is love and understanding, commitment and sacrifice in a country in times of war. There are friends and enemies, battles and trials, daily life and an important part of our history, suddenly interrupted that tragic day in May 1992, overshadowed by the Capaci massacre. At the center of the scene is a woman, Francesca Morvillo, together with the man she chose to stay by until the end, aware of the danger: Giovanni Falcone. Their lives intertwine in the most difficult season of the conflict between the State and Cosa Nostra.
Grand finale on Sunday 11th August with Terra ca nun senti, the concert-event by Carmen Consoli, which will alternate traditional Sicilian songs with songs by iconic artists born in Sicily such as Franco Battiato, Rosa Balistreri and Consoli herself: the whole composes a great narration in notes of Sicily with its landscapes, stories and characters, filtered by the gaze and sensitivity of Carmen Consoli.
