With the first session of the City Council held yesterday afternoon in the council chamber of Palazzo Luigi Razza, the eighth municipal legislature since the direct election of the mayor has been in force officially opened. The new mayor Enzo Romeo provided the Councilors and the many citizens present with his programmatic linesbut the mayor has not yet resolved the question regarding the figure who will have to regulate the tangle of the Balance. This is the main news of yesterday, together with the fact that already, as was easily predictable, at least two well-defined and different positions can be distinguished within the opposition: on one side the councilors of the Forza Italia area (with the civic lists Forza Vibo and Oltre inside), on the other the councilors of the centrist area that supported the candidacy for mayor of Francesco Muzzopappa.
Without a comparison on the game of the vice-presidents of the Council, the majority and the opposition have made their numbers count during the first three votes (in which a 2/3 majority was needed) to elect the new president of the civic assembly, the Democrat Antonio Iannello.
The leader of the Democratic Party Francesco Colelli he stressed that now we will have to start again with strength “after 15 years of bad government of the city led by the centre-right”, while Francesco Muzzoppappagroup leader of Identità territoriale highlighted the will to “make a constructive opposition. We will give the new Council 4-5 months, then we will see what they have been able to do”. A Council in which an important role will be played by the new Environment Councillor, Marco Miceli: “We must not rush things. Now in the summer we will dedicate ourselves to cleaning and clearing the bushes, but serious planning is needed to achieve the results that the European community imposes on us”.
