The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) allegedly foiled a Ukrainian military operation that planned to hijack a Russian MiG-31 equipped with a supersonic Kinzhal missile to carry out a false attack on NATO’s largest air base. The FSB itself reported this to the Tass agency, also speaking of the United Kingdom’s involvement in the operation. «To hijack the aircraft – the Moscow services explain – Ukraine was ready to recruit Russian pilots by offering them 3 million dollars».

“The federal security service – explains the press office quoted by Tass – discovered and foiled an operation by the General Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and its British supervisors to hijack a Russian Mig-31, equipped with a Kinzhal hypersonic missile, and send it abroad.”

«For the hijacking, Ukrainian intelligence – the note continues – tried to recruit Russian pilots, offering them 3 million dollars. The special services planned to send the jet to the area where NATO’s largest air base is located, in Constanta, Romania, where it would then be shot down by the air defense. The measures implemented foiled the plans of Ukrainian and British intelligence to carry out a large-scale provocation.”
