After the ugly and heavy ‘zero’ in the Emilia Romagna GP last Sunday, Pecco Bagnaia immediately redeems himself by winning the Sprint Race of the Indonesian Grand Prixtaking advantage of a fall on the first lap by rival Jorge Martin, who then finished 11th but was forced to end Saturday without any points. The reigning world champion Italian rider recovers part of what he lost last weekend and returns to -12 in the standings behind the Spaniard. Second place today for Enea Bastianini who completes the double of official Ducatis, followed by the other Ducati, the Gresini one, of Marc Marquez.
Martin starts well and maintains the lead of the race, with Bagnaia following him after a few metres. The twist, however, arrives immediately, even before the first lap ends: the Spaniard lies down and, after having raised his bike from the ground, is forced to start again from the back of the group. In the meantime, Bagnaia takes the lead, followed by an excellent Bezzecchi and a wild Marc Marquez, who started 12th and climbed up to the podium area in the blink of an eye. A small mistake by ‘Bez’ mid-race cost him a long shot and the loss of two positions, with Bastianini taking advantage of it by climbing to third place. The end of the race is a three-way fight between the two official Ducatis of Pecco and Enea and the Spaniard’s Gresini: Bastianini is good at attacking and overtaking Marquez, achieving an excellent second place behind his teammate and compatriot
