After the extraordinary pole position achieved in the morning, Francesco Bagnaia on Ducati triumphs in the Sprint Race of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. On the Marco Simoncelli track in Misano, the reigning world champion leaves his great rival behind Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac), who finished second after attacking the Italian at the start. Pecco thus closes the gap on the Spaniard in the standings, now only 4 points from the top. Third place in the race for the other official Ducati of Enea Bastianinifourth Marc Márquez on Ducati Gresini.
Martin starts very well and immediately takes the first position, leaving behind his rival Bagnaia who was initially attacked by Binder. The Spaniard tries to take off but the Italian doesn’t allow it and, lap after lap, he nibbles away a few meters, dragging his teammate Bastianini along with him. Soon, however, the fight for the lead is reduced to just the two phenomena fighting for the World Championship: Bagnaia becomes more and more insistent and during the eighth lap, taking advantage of a ‘long’ by Martin, he takes back the leadership of the race, then extending it just enough to certify the triumph.
“Managed to give 100%, incredible step”
“I tried to give 100% and I think I succeeded. The start wasn’t very good, I had to push to recover and counterattack. The pace was really incredible, I rode consistently under the times we would have imagined.” These are the words of Francesco Bagnaia at the end of the Sprint Race of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The Ducati rider finished in first place ahead of rival Jorge Martin, now only 4 points behind in the standings.
