Mourning in the entertainment industry, Angela Pagano, a Neapolitan actress who was also a protagonist in the city’s cultural life, has died at the age of 87. Her sister is the singer Marina Pagano, who passed away in 1990. Born in the historic center of Naples, with a father who was a parking attendant and mandolin player, she began working in 1958 in Eduardo De Filippo’s company starting with the comedy La fortuna con l’effe maiuscola. She worked with the great author in the theater until 1962 and also participated in the transposition of his works on TV, including Ditegli sempre di sì; Napoli milionaria; Filumena Marturano.

Success came with Giuseppe Patroni Griffi who chose her to recite a text by Franca Valeri, Le catacombe (1962 – 1963), and in 1967 he called her for Napoli notte e giorno, the show that marked the rediscovery of Raffaele Viviani. She acted in the theater with Peppino De Filippo and Pupella Maggio. The actress Isa Danieli wrote on social media: “Small, sharp, rigorous and good! Well done! Well done! Bye Angela, have a good trip and say hello to Enzo, Armando and even Franco. It was a beautiful and unforgettable hug. May the earth rest lightly on you”. Tomorrow from 10:00 the funeral chapel will be at San Ferdinando, the theater where she starred with Eduardo. At 1:00 pm the funeral will be at the artists’ church in Piazza Trieste e Trento.
