The political verification, the “coupon” announced by the mayor Nicholas Flowery, remains in the background of the city debate. We saw it in the last City Council, we see it from the timing which, however, does not seem to be the fast one indicated by the mayor at the time of the start of this process of discussion and reflection with the majority forces, but not only, after the European vote.
There is a certain skepticism in the opposition area regarding the results of the coupon. In the Chamber, Forza Italia representative Marco Polimeni spoke of “nonsense” and reiterated the group’s position as a clear alternative to the majority coalition in which, moreover, the component that refers to the blue regional (and municipal) councilor Antonello Talerico holds a significant position. The latter, for his part, – who yesterday communicated his formal adhesion to the Forza Italia group in the Regional Council – reiterated his will to respect the pact with Fiorita, born in the 2022 ballot. In short, on this front, no changes of any kind are in the air.
During the discussion in the Council, among other things, Fiorita made no mention of the ongoing service. Nor has any member of the majority (with the exception, precisely, of the “clarification” given by Talerico in the confrontation with the FI group) done otherwise. What is certain is that there do not seem to be elements in the air that would lead to radical changes. Indeed, from what emerges from internal sources at Palazzo De Nobili, nothing should change on the front of the coalition’s supporting framework and little on that of the council, with the now widely announced replacement of the councilor for Public Works Raffaele Scalise, ready to leave for personal reasons.
