Was there a mix between those who would have collected votes in the Sambatello hamlet and alleged exponents of the ‘Ndrangheta who would operate in the same area north of the city to such an extent, as the prosecution claims, that they committed the crime of political-mafia electoral exchange? And with their alleged modus operandi held in the 2020 electoral elections – in the municipal and regional elections – the aggravating mafia situation arises, therefore having acted with the intention of facilitating and favoring the local mafia, in the work of electoral support and collection of votes, against political candidates by those who cooperated in carrying out the electoral fraud which, according to the investigators, took place in the “88” polling station in Sambatello? It has developed precisely on these two very delicate and extremely technical-legal issues the hearing before the Court of Freedom for three “Ducale” suspects, three key positions in the Carabinieri investigation: Daniel Barillà (defended by the lawyer Marco Gemelli), dynamic and enterprising exponent of the Democratic Party who in Sambatello and in the Gallico Valley, where he resides and operates entrepreneurially, is said to have forwarded his personal package of votes to left-wing and right-wing candidates; the same entrepreneur with a passion for politics who, after having undergone the measure of house arrest in the very first days of “Ducale”, today responds on the loose (encumbered only by the obligation to sign) as decided by the review judges; Domenico Araniti (defended by lawyers Giovanna Beatrice Araniti and Marco Gemelli), believed to be among the leaders of the Sambatello ‘Ndrangheta gang; And Martina Giustra (defended by lawyer Giuseppe Nardo) one of the scrutineers at the now famous Sambatello polling station where, according to the conversations of the same suspects intercepted by the Carabinieri investigators, some phantom votes would have been for the benefit of those same candidates now co-investigated by “Ducale”.
