‘Ndrangheta, Cassation: two suspects remain for murder in Vibo

The first criminal section of the Cassation, in acceptance of the arguments proposed by the lawyers Sergio Rotundo and Alice Massara, rejected the appeal of the DDA of Catanzaro against the release of Salvatore Vita50 years old, from Vibo Marina e Francesco d’Ascoli, 54 years old, also by Vibo Marina, investigated for competition in the murder of the insurer Michele Palumboconsidered near the Mancuso clan of Limbadi. The fact of blood took place in the Lombard hamlet of Vibo on 11 March 2010.

In the case of Francesco d’Ascoli, the same cassation, in rejecting the appeal of the Prosecutor, has endorsed the long -standing question of the application of the custodial measure on mafia -type association when in the presence of the lack of topicality of the precautionary needs. “This is a topic that is of considerable importance – explained the two lawyers to AGI – since it offers the defense a further tool to contest the conditions of application, and above all of maintenance, of the precautionary measure in the field of mafia association”.

The positions of Salvatore Vita and Francesco d’Ascoli are currently excerpt in the context of the procedure born from the anti -mafia operation called “Portosalvo”. For the murder Palumbo are already found in trial Michele Fiorillo, 39 years old, from Piscopio, Rosario Battaglia, Rosario Fiorilloalso from Piscopio, e Salvatore Tripodi of Portosalvo, another fraction of the Municipality of Vibo.
