«A strategic turning point for the economic relaunch of the territory, with the creation of an innovative endowment fund, financed with resources from the European Union». This is the one announced by the President of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, in the speech with which he concluded the Summer School in Belvedere Marittimo “Si può già fare”, a training event that saw young students interact with experts, entrepreneurs and talents, promoted by the association “L’Orodicalabria”.

«This is an initiative – said Occhiuto – that represents a concrete and determined response to the needs of Calabrian start-upsoffering strategic support for access to credit, one of the main obstacles for those who want to start new businesses. Our goal is to provide local start-ups with the means necessary to transform their ideas into successful projects, capable of fueling the growth and development of our region. This financial instrument will be a driving force for innovation, allowing young entrepreneurs to access the capital needed to make their dreams come true”.

“The importance of this initiative – it is said in a press release – goes beyond simple economic support: it is a strategic move aimed at catalyzing the development of a robust and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem in Calabria”. President Occhiuto noted how “Calabria already has a fabric of excellence in the field of innovation, which includes the presence of the University of Calabria in the range of universities with a student population between twenty thousand and forty thousand enrolled. A university that also represents a center of excellence in the field of research on artificial intelligence. Calabria hosts innovative business incubators financed by private funds that are demonstrating the effectiveness of an advanced and autonomous system. This highlights how this land is already a center of expertise of not only national but also European importance».

«With the creation of this fund – Occhiuto added – Calabria can emerge as a laboratory of innovation at European level and as a pillar of the Mattei Plandestined to transform the Mezzogiorno into a strategic hub for companies operating in the countries of the southern shore of the Mediterranean. It is crucial to abandon the belief that the development of our region is impossible. With its unique resources, Calabria has the potential to become a model of growth and prosperity”.
