“Offensive audio from the mayor”: Murone justifies himself, but there is controversy in Lamezia

«Are there no more comments on the illuminations of Sant’Eufemia? Have these beggars shut up?” It is a short passage from a voice message shared by Mayor Mario Murone with the members of the Council on December 17th. The message was released yesterday and as soon as it started circulating on social media, a furious controversy broke out against the mayor who, from what we hear in the audio, would offend the citizens of the Sant’Eufemia district.
The mayor returns every accusation to the sender and replies firmly: «The discussion in the chat between me and the councilors of the council was broad and detailed but someone clearly wanted to damage me by extrapolating only part of the entire message. In these months of government I have spent myself throughout the city, in all the neighborhoods without any discrimination. Only – Murone points out – I felt offended by some opposition politicians who exploited the delays with which the lights were installed in Sant’Eufemia”.
