Skeet shooting
Good start by Giovanni Pellielowho in the first day of qualifications for the Olympic Trench competition at the Paris Games, in Chateauroux, is in third place, with 73/75. Only the Swede Rickard Levin-Andersson and the Australian James Willett did better than the 54-year-old from Vercelli with 74/75. On par with Pellielo are the Moroccan Driss Haffari and the Olympic gold medalist from London 2012, the Croatian Giovanni Cernogoraz. One clay further back than the third place is the other Italian Mauro De Filippis, with 72/75. The outgoing Olympic champion, the Czech Jiri Liptak, did badly with 70. «It was a positive day – commented the Italian technical director Marco Conti -, even if it could have been better. There is regret for the 25th clay missed by Pellielo in the second series, because for him it was trivial and instead the error arrived. Patience, we’ll keep it and now we’ll think about sleeping peacefully tonight, waiting for the last round of qualifications and then the final tomorrow. To reach it, ‘Johnny’ (Pellielo ed.) will only need to get 49, while De Filippis will need a 50. In any case, this Chateauroux shooting range proved to be more difficult than expected”.
