Wasted opportunity for Reggina who failed to repeat the success of Vibo and drew at home against Pompeii. Once again the Amaranths stop at home against a team that occupies the lower parts of the table and once again see the top move away. The biggest regret comes from the fact that the challenge was firmly in the hands of Trocini’s team. The home team had dominated the first half, having the right patience to hit twice a well-organised opponent who had chosen to favor the defensive phase.
The signature on the two Reggina scores were by Antonino Ragusa. The striker from Taormina first he scored a goal from a penalty he earned (foul by Troest). Then, on Urso’s serve from a free kick, he received the ball in the area and placed a diagonal shot from a tight angle. A billiard shot that suggested the continuation of a different afternoon to the one that turned out for Reggina. In the second half Pompeii returned to the game with the penalty scored by De Luca (handball by Girasole). For a few minutes he put the hosts in difficulty with all-field pressure. Reggina resisted, but made the mistake of not chasing a trio in the central phase of the second half. The feeling is that the many injured players in the Amaranth team had an impact when the changes could have been decisive.
But there is no room to find excuses. A few minutes from the ninetieth El Hilali, with the amaranth defense lined up, received the ball after an outflanking maneuver triggered by Tompte and made no mistake from a few meters away to make the final 2-2.
