No massages and pseudo-therapeutic treatments. No to braids throughout the municipality. In the village it is forbidden to walk bare-chested, in a bathing suit or barefoot. On the coast there is a ban on carrying out and using unauthorized beauty treatments.
Thus the mayor Giovanni Macrì who yesterday (Thursday 2 July) signed new ordinances, with measures to protect public health from the risk deriving from the performance of massages and other beauty treatments throughout the municipal territory, to give relevance to measures that seemed frozen. We are perfectly aware – underlines the Mayor – that often, in seaside destinations, there is the attitude and practice of considering, even in good faith, everything adapted to the sea and everything in seaside style. And yet, even understanding that it is not always due to sloppiness or intention, it is still not tolerable to accept or pretend not to see that you think you are still at the seaside or on the beach even when, instead, you are walking in the living room of our village. For this reason – explains the mayor – we are simply renewing what we had already foreseen and put in place since 2019 with ordinances then implemented by our regulations to which it was therefore necessary to restore relevance and shine. There has, in fact, been a lack of attention and a progressive loss of awareness with respect to rules that are fundamental for us of decorum and public hygiene which, for this reason, we are re-proposing today with the addition of two innovations that we consider important: the ban on braids and Afro hairstyles throughout the municipal territory and sanctions for those who do not display the extracts of the ordinances, precisely to draw everyone’s attention even more and govern possible distractions in good faith.
The provision arises from the observation of the analysis of the hygienic-sanitary risks connected to these abusive practices. Handling by operators without qualifications and in unsuitable contexts exposes citizens and tourists to the risk of serious skin infections. Another risk is linked to the use of oils, lotions and products of unknown origin which, when applied under the sun, can cause serious allergic reactions and photosensitization of the skin. The ordinance introduces the principle of bilateral responsibility: administrative pecuniary sanctions, which vary from 125 euros to 500 euros, will be imposed both on the person carrying out the abusive service and on the customer who decides to use it. Crackdown also for state concessions. If violations are ascertained within a beach concession, the owner of the establishment will be held jointly and severally liable with the violators. Furthermore, all accommodation facilities and seaside resorts are obliged to display an extract of the provision to the public, to ensure maximum information for guests. In case of recurrence of the crime in sensitive areas, the Local Police will apply immediate expulsion measures.
HISTORIC CENTER, STOP TO PRIVATE CONSTRUCTION SITE AND NOISES UNTIL 30 SEPTEMBER
The First Citizen also signed the ordinance relating to the temporary suspension of private building activities and noisy work in the historic center and in Piazza Vittorio Veneto during the period of maximum tourist influx. The objective is to guarantee safety, public peace and urban decorum. The provisions will be in force from Sunday 5 July until 30 September 2026 inclusive, and apply exclusively within the historic centre, Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the immediately adjacent areas with a high tourist flow.
Therefore, stop demolitions, reconstructions, renovations, restorations, facade renovations and any work that produces noise, dust or vibrations, regardless of the building permit held. The use of demolition hammers, flexes, concrete mixers, cranes, excavators, compressors and similar equipment is prohibited. Within 5 days of the entry into force of the ordinance, private individuals will have to remove scaffolding, fences, boxes, rubble and work vehicles, returning the areas to public use. Authorizations to occupy land for construction purposes are considered suspended.
The suspension does not apply to public works or works of public interest; urgent interventions on service networks (water, electricity, gas, telecommunications); extremely urgent Civil Protection works or to eliminate imminent dangers to public safety. Any exceptions, for cases of absolute and documented urgency, may be authorized exclusively by the Head of the Territorial Government Area. Supervision is entrusted to the Local Police Force. In case of violation, in addition to the restoration of the places at the expense of those responsible and the suspension of the authorizations, administrative sanctions of 125 to 500 euros will be applied; from 2 thousand to 20 thousand euros for noise pollution.
