The defeat in Caltanissetta slowed down Messina’s rise after six consecutive useful results and the first away defeat came against Nissa. A match decided by a goal after a few minutes and in which the potential of the two teams did not fully emerge.
«It wasn’t a good match from both of them. The cold goal destabilized us a bit, but these are games that are decided with an episode and they were better at completing one of the few opportunities created. They managed the dribble more, we got lower and could do something more. We expected a flash or a favorable episode, but it didn’t arrive”, commented the Giallorossi defender, Giulio Orlando.
But the stop against one of the best equipped teams in the group did not demoralize the Peloritan group, who demonstrated that they know how to overcome even more difficult moments. Despite the complex corporate situation at the beginning of the season, the team was able to react and, without preparation, maintained a surprising pace, canceling the penalty in just over a month: «At the beginning of the year there were many doubts, without a club or material and, in these conditions, not even we expected to do so well. We exceeded our expectations, thanks to a fantastic group, young workers who want to work and no one has ever complained. This has led us to obtain many positive results and with the new entries into the company we have more stability. A breath of fresh air has arrived and we can feel more calm”, added the 1995-born player, formerly of Fasano, among the most experienced in the squad and returning to Sicily after previous experiences with Licata (with coach Romano and sporting director Martello), Acireale, Siracusa and Troina: “Coach and director have played an important role and I have a lot of faith in them. Then a place like Messina is difficult to refuse despite the difficulties. Playing at San Filippo and seeing those fans is an emotion that cannot be renounced.”
It is through “Franco Scoglio” that Messina’s redemption will pass and, on Sunday against Vibonese, will open an intense November with opponents like Gelbison, Savoia and Ragusa: «We have to make up for the negative performance and we will face a team with a strong squad, but at home we have to win points. We have a complicated month ahead of us against teams equipped to win, but we must be hungry to save ourselves and we will always go on the pitch to fight.”
