An Italian woman originally from Mestre (Venice), Pamela Codardini, 35 years old, was found killed in Mexico where she had lived for years, in the town of Ocotlán de Morelos, together with her partner, Juan Yair, in a shop that the two managed. The double crime – Il Gazzettino reports today – occurred in the late afternoon of Saturday 27 January. The bodies and traces of the shooting, probably carried out by a commando, were found on the spot.

The ambush could be linked to a settling of scores within the “narcos” groups, to which Yair probably belonged. In 2013, again in Mexico, Pamela Codardini’s husband, Alex Bertoli, a chef originally from Capriva del Friuli (Gorizia) who ran a pizzeria with her, was killed. He was beaten to death with a stick and then burned alive.

“The partner of the murdered Italian was a member of a gang”

The prosecutor’s office in the state of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico, has started investigations into the killing of the Italian Pamela Codardini and her partner Juan Yair. The bodies of the victims were found by local police lying in a pool of blood inside the shop that the two ran in the municipality of Ocatlan de Morelos. Several shell casings and a 9 mm weapon were found on the floor. According to the Mexican press, Pamela’s partner, nicknamed “el Yayo”, belonged to the Medina criminal gang. Oaxaca authorities have begun questioning residents in the area, while the results of the autopsy are awaited.
