Paola, great celebration for the 50th anniversary of the Italian Referees Association section

The Aia di Paola section celebrated its 50th birthday since its foundation in the monastic complex of Sant’Agostino. For The Hague, President Carlo Pacifici and the national member Stefano Archinà took part in the event. Also present were some of the pioneers, to whom, on 27 October 1973, the then President of the Paola Association, Giulio Campanati, entrusted the newly established Section, placing the late Mario Cipparrone at the helm.
In half a century of history, numerous referees have crossed regional borders, many events have been organized and relationships maintained with various local associations and solidarity initiatives, to the point of making the Section a point of reference in sport and above all a place of aggregation. Values ​​and concepts that were also underlined by the sectional President Marco Maiorano and by the President of the Regional Committee Franco Longo, an associate from Paola.
Also present were the Mayor of Paola, Giovanni Politano; the President of the LND Regional Committee Saverio Mirarchi and the Creator of the “Mimmo Romeo” Award Francesco Romeo, recognition in memory of one of the Founders which is awarded annually to the member who has distinguished himself in the life of the association. The seventh edition of the award went to Giovanni Molinaro, former assistant of Serie C and Sectional Technical Body from 1997 to 2009.
Among other things, this was an important year for the section which saw the appointment of Stefania Signorelli from Paola as international assistant.
