With the summer almost upon us, the Tyrrhenian coast Cosentino is preparing to welcome thousands of tourists. From tomorrow they will be able to open the bathing establishments. But while the managers of the shores and accommodation facilities equip themselves for the season, three unresolved issues once again threaten the quality of the environment and welcome: The pollution of the sea, the indiscriminate abandonment of waste in the area and the persistent water deficiency.
On the water crisis, Paola has run for cover, but many other municipalities arrange. Among the most delicate emergencies of last year, that of water shortage represents one of the most serious challenges for coastal countries. In recent years, the situation has become increasingly difficult due to not only poor rainfall but also of obsolete infrastructures, un monitored losses and often not very efficient management of water resources. Not all the municipalities of the coast have had the same promptness and the same resources. The accumulated delays now risk presenting the account in the hottest months, when the demand for water explodes and the offer is reduced.
