New tickets and new tariffs for a local public transport service that becomes district-wide, and a cap on the maximum number of season tickets that can be granted within the Porta Catania car park. This is what the Taormina city council approved by accepting the resolution presented by the ASM board of directors, which gave the green light to the new developments last month. Solutions which in the Chamber received 9 votes in favor from the majority and 5 against from the opposition (Marcello Passalacqua absent).
The rates have been remodeled on the basis of the 2025-2027 budget forecasts and in comparison with other Italian cities and various payment options have been introduced to use public transport throughout the Taormina area where Asm will operate. The ticket for the single journey for residents goes from 1.10 to 1.50 euros and the tickets are added at 2.50 euros for two journeys (residents), 2 euros for one journey (non-residents), 3 euros for two journeys ( non-residents); resident carnet of 30 to 50 one-journey tickets at a cost of 1 euro each, promotional resident carnet at a cost of 6 euros with 10 one-journey tickets; daily ticket 3.50 euros; 72-hour ticket 7 euros; 7-day ticket 15 euros; single journey cable car ticket 2 euros (residents), return cable car ticket 3.50 euros (residents), single journey cable car ticket 6 euros (non-residents), return cable car ticket 10 euros (non-residents), integrated bus+ ticket cable car 7 euros. The monthly subscription for residents remains at 15 euros, as well as for residents over 65 at 7.50 euros; the non-resident monthly fee goes from 50 to 30 euros, the resident annual fee remains 150 euros, residents over 65 to 80 euros and the non-resident fee goes from 400 to 230 euros.
