Saturday morning in Cosenza dawns with that anguished moan of rising prices. And they still grow. Above all, it is the prices of energy products that drag a shopping cart that becomes increasingly heavier. Gas and electricity have begun the rise which should reach the peak already with the bills for the first quarter of the new year (and the increases will also hit the protected bands, said Arera). Not to mention that the rise in automotive fuels inevitably affects consumer prices.
The full map in the city varies from petrol station to petrol station. Depending on the signs and the location of the headquarters, the price of fuel fluctuates in the order of a few cents per liter. Everywhere, however, the increases at the charging station have clearly appreciated. From the end of December last year to yesterday the price of diesel increased by around ten cents per litre. But compared to December 31st, the average full tank (imagined in a 50 liter tank) costs 4 to 7 euros more. A blow that is only just beginning and which risks generating new increases throughout the entire supply chain. From producer to consumer everything is destined to increase.
The surcharges
The price of fuel, moreover, is set by the company and the manager applies it, possibly giving up a part of the profit established at 35 cents gross per liter of fuel supplied, regardless of the price of petrol and diesel. Therefore, as trade representatives continue to reiterate, there is no speculation taking place on the part of petrol station attendants. And it would make no sense to increase the cost of filling up at the pump because the move would generate a collapse in fuel sales. The updated situation, in many cases as of yesterday, according to the prices reported by the Mimt Observatory, shows a very variable face in the city and in the hinterland municipalities within a narrow confidence interval. The cost of diesel varies between self-service and self-service. With do-it-yourself, the price of a liter of diesel varies between 1,689 euros in the “Esso” stations in via Mosca in Rende, and via Kennedy, also in Rende, to 1,759 at the Tamoil in Piane Crati. Therefore a range of 7 cents per litre, a difference which, on an average full tank (50 litres), rises to one euro and 3.5 euros. Even with regards to petrol, the confidence interval between minimum and maximum takes us back to the same differences: 1.809 at the IP in viale della Repubblica (on the corner with via Pasquale Rossi), against the 1.869 displayed in the Tampol petrol station of Surdo. Also in this case it is a minimum differential quantified at 6 cents per litre. On a full tank, the difference rises to 3 euros per litre. Naturally, with the service, it now costs well over two euros per litre.
