A magnificent specimen of Pellegrino hawkone of the most majestic and rare day rapa caves (only about 2000 nesting couples in Italy) was drawn from a shotin the Vibonese countryside.
The rapacious, whose speed in the beaten can reach 300 km per hour, had been found, in an evident state of difficulty by Mr. Francesco Pardeain the countryside between the hamlets of Porto Salvo and the crossroads of Vibo Valentia, and immediately delivered in the hands of the naturalist of the WWF Pino Paolillo, who kept him and fed him before the ultra at the wild animal recovery center in Catanzaro, directed by the doctor Debora Giordano.
It was precisely the veterinarian of the crashes that made the radiography on the hawk and to ascertain the retention of two hunting dots, one of which at the level of the spine and another near the wing, with the hope that the bird of prey can exceed the damage caused by injuries and lead poisoning.
For his part, Paolillo, on behalf of all the WWF and the environmental world of Calabrian, has expressed all its indignation for this cowardly deed of poaching against a particularly protected species, precisely at a time when a national bill is under discussion that intends to change the LEgge 157/92 on the protection of wildlife and the discipline of Caccia, which provides, among other distortions, the extension of the hunting season and the reduction of protected areas, to the entirely detriment of the national fauna heritage.
