The Board of Directors for the State Police personnel, in the meeting held yesterday, July 16, 2024, promoted the current Deputy Headquarters of Catanzaro, Dr. Renato Panvinoas Senior Manager effective July 1; Dr. Saverio Pietropaolothe new Chief Commissioner effective March 28 and the Eng. Fabio Caporale to Chief Technical Director Engineer effective July 1st.
Dr. Panvino55 years old, son of an artist (his father was a former Inspector of the State Police), married and father of a girl, joined the Police in 1988. Today’s appointment represents the culmination of a long high-level career as an investigator in the coordination of delicate police operations, which saw the new Police Commissioner as the protagonist of the capture of numerous fugitives and dangerous criminals. In 1994 his first assignment saw him engaged in following the investigations into the tragic death of Nicholas Green, but the watershed came in the following years when Dr. Panvino began to conduct investigations that led to the arrest of the most ruthless bosses of the ‘Ndrangheta: Antonio Pelle, found in Calabria in an underground bunker; Gaetano Santaiti, captured at night in Aspromonte with a loaded gun in his hand; Antonio Commisso, discovered in Canada, and later Giovanni Strangio and Antonio Romeo, responsible for the massacre in Duisburg (Germany), chased to Amsterdam (Holland). He directed the Dia of Eastern Sicily, arresting numerous mafia bosses. Dr. Panvino was later Deputy Chief of Police of Nuoro, before his current assignment in Catanzaro.
Dr. Saverio Pietropaoloentered the State Police on 1 June 1984, as a student agent at the Bolzano Student Agents School, after attending the course he was assigned to the Rome Termini Railway Police. In 1991 he won the competition for Superintendent and was assigned to the Crotone Police Station, as head of the Services Office. Subsequently, as Inspector, he was assigned to Naples as head of the Railway Police Operations Room. He was later transferred to the PG Team of the Villa Glori Police Station in Rome as head. In 1997 he took over command of the Lamezia Terme Railway Police Section until 2018. In 2018, having passed the competition for Deputy Commissioner, he was assigned to the Lamezia Terme Police Station and subsequently, in 2019, to the Cabinet Office, as head of the Services Office, Escort Office and UPGAIP.
Eng. Fabio Caporale was promoted to Chief Technical Director Engineer effective July 1. He joined the Police in 2016, graduated in Engineering with top marks, after attending the training course for Technical Director Engineer of the State Police, Building Engineering branch, Barracks Sector, he was assigned in 2017 to the Catanzaro Police Headquarters with the role of Director of the Provincial Technical Logistics Office. Engineer Caporale distinguished himself for his high professional skills, and was also a teacher of numerous professional courses for the depth of his technical knowledge. He also carried out expert checks on behalf of the Judicial Authority.
