Bobi, the oldest dog in the world, has died at the age of 31. Born and raised in Portugal, in the province of Leiria, Bobi had survived the slaughter of his brothers thanks to the color of his fur, which helped him blend in among the wood while the other puppies were given away by Leonel Costa’s family, who could not keep them and, as we know, they were then killed.
Little Leonel was 8 years old at the time and discovered Bobi among the wood of his house in the countryside because Bobi’s mother continued to go there frequently.
At that point the parents couldn’t help but keep the puppy. It was Leonel Costa himself who announced to the Portuguese media the death of his dog, of the «rafeiro» breed from Alentejo, who had celebrated his 31st birthday last May 11th surrounded by a hundred guests from all over the world.
