He returns to the South, from where he started, the Privacy Tour, the national initiative to raise awareness of the conscious use of the technology promoted by the Guarantor for the protection of personal data. After the debut in Salerno and the second stage in Palermo, the “Privacy Tour 2025” arrives in Catanzaro to continue its path that aims to promote the culture of privacy and the responsible use of new technologies in the territories where it is more necessary to encourage awareness, dialogue and training. The event will be held on 21 and 22 May in the green room of the regional citadel of Calabria (21 May, 2.30-19.00; 22 May, 9.30-13.00) and will see the participation of the college of the Guarantor, together with representatives of institutions, academic world, businesses and civil society. At the center of the works, the issues of digital equity, artificial intelligence and contrast to gender bias in the processing of personal data. In particular, a joint study will be presented conducted by the University of Calabria of Cosenza (Dimeg) and by the Polytechnic of Bari (DMMM) on the impact of the AI in the procedures for the selection of personnel, with a focus on the risks of gender discrimination. The initiative is created with the collaboration of the Calabria Region and the patronage of the Regional Guarantor for Childhood and Adolescence, and promoted among others by Fondazione Magna Grecia, FS and Unical Group. To confirm the symbolic value of the Calabrian stage, the college of the Guarantor has decided to keep a meeting in Catanzaro, outside the Roman headquarters in Piazza Venezia.
The Privacy Tour started in April last year from Messina, in synergy with a South Gazzetta publishing company of the South newspaper of Sicily, with the two days “Journey to awareness – the information that protects”. On that occasion, the college of the Guarantor, with the president Pasquale Stanzione, the vice -president Ginevra Cerrina Feroni and the components Guido Scorza and Agostino Ghiglia, held the first plenary meeting outside the Roman office, in the Senate room of the University of Messina. After the symbolic departure of the “journey” from the FS Station of Messina Centrale, the event at the Vittorio Emanuele Theater promoted by SES then involved the entire territorial community, and in particular the youngest in the field of the GDS Academy, on the issue of data protection and responsible information.
