The Provincial Health Authority of Cosenza intervenes in the protest of the cleaners which affected the Spoke hospital in Corigliano Rossano. The ASP clarifies the status of payments and the actions taken to protect workers engaged in cleaning services in the province, over 400 units. The general director Antonio Graziano explains that the situation was followed carefully and that the company operated in compliance with the established procedures. “We are on schedule, indeed ahead of deadlines,” he says. «All positions are updated and payments have been made».

Operations completed

In detail, Graziano clarifies that the necessary operations have been completed for the companies involved. «As far as CNS is concerned, the payments for the month of October have already been sent to the bank», he explains. «The situation has also been defined for CSF: the sums due have been credited and the procedures are consolidated». The general director highlights that any delays are not attributable to the healthcare company. «In the specific case of one of the contracting companies, there were problems of an administrative nature related to documentation», he specifies. «It wasn’t the ASP’s responsibility, but internal critical issues within the entrusted company. As soon as these problems were resolved, we immediately started the payment procedures.”

Early deadlines

Graziano also points out that the ASP operated well beyond the expected time obligations. “We have sixty days to make payments,” he says. «Despite this, on several occasions we have brought forward the deadlines, precisely to guarantee peace of mind to workers and their families». According to the general director, the intervention of the health company responds to a precise choice of social responsibility. «Despite not having direct expertise on contractual dynamics between companies, we took charge of the situation because we care about the well-being of workers», he declares. “We did it without hesitation, putting exclusively people at the center and not other interests.” In his speech, Graziano decisively rejects distorted readings of the story. “We believe it is our duty to stigmatize any form of exploitation,” he states. «When difficulties emerge involving workers and families, our task is to intervene seriously, not to fuel controversies that have nothing to do with the protection of rights». The ASP of Cosenza claims a coherent line over time. «This company has always been sensitive to social problems, even when they were not directly attributable to its responsibilities», underlines Graziano. «We have done it in the past and we continue to do it today, because we believe that the role of a public structure goes beyond simple bureaucratic compliance».

Employment stability

Ample space is also dedicated to the topic of employment stability. «Over the years we have carried out concrete action against precarious employment», recalls the general director. «Many workers have been stabilized, guaranteeing continuity, economic certainty and professional dignity». An eye is also turned to the future. «With the new assignment of the service we are working to further improve the contractual conditions», announces Graziano. «Greater guarantees are envisaged, also in terms of increasing working hours, so as to offer more solid and long-lasting prospects». Director Graziano also recalls the role played by regional governance, underlining a collaboration that has made it possible to address complex issues related to work over time. «Many of the actions that we were able to implement – he states – were possible thanks to the support of the regional governance and of President Occhiuto, who demonstrated concrete attention to the issues of employment protection and stabilization».

Shared address

Graziano highlights how the path started is not episodic, but the result of a shared direction. «We were able to work on the stabilization of workers because we were provided with the necessary tools», he explains. «In this journey the Company has never been alone: we have had a sensitive, present and committed interlocutor, who has accompanied our actions». The general director then underlines the value of institutional synergy. «The President has demonstrated constant attention towards workers and social problems», he concludes. «This is a commitment that is part of a broader vision, oriented towards the protection of work and the construction of more stable and dignified conditions over time». The declared objective remains that of ensuring a climate of trust. «We want to convey peace of mind to workers and their families», concludes the general director. «Every intervention by the ASP is oriented towards this principle: protecting those who work, enhancing the public service and always operating in compliance with the rules». The Provincial Health Authority of Cosenza therefore confirms its commitment to carefully follow the evolution of the situation, reiterating its willingness to intervene, within the limits of its competences, to guarantee administrative correctness and social protection.
