Giovanni Manitta has been found and is fine. The 40 -year -old from Palermo, who passed away on May 3, was located in Northern Italy, hosted by a family member. After days of intense national scale research, it was the police to be able to track him down.
His car, a Fiat Bravo, had been reported by some residents and found six days ago in a small street of Galati Marina, with evident damage to the bodywork and without a tire. The vehicle, parked in order to block the pedestrian crossing, had suspended the inhabitants of an apartment building in the area, who warned the municipal police.
After discovering that the car belonged to Manitta, the Palermo prefecture coordinated the research operations. The police, municipal and police, sifted the area: patrols along the Galati torrent, in the surrounding fields and on the beach, with the support of drones and a patrol boat engaged in the control of the southern coast of the city.
Initially there was a tragic epilogue, but fortunately everything was resolved positively. From the first reconstructions it seems that the man voluntarily moved away from home. After having arrived in Messina, despite the faults in the vehicle – who may have verified during the journey – it is likely that he has reached the village of Galati in an attempt to ask for help, and then leave and temporarily lose his tracks.
