The committee for the Yes to the referendum on the separation of magistrates’ careers and on the reform of the CSM was also established in Reggio Calabria. The initiative was created with the aim of promoting an informed, serious and non-ideological public discussion on justice issues.

The principles and the promoters

The committee refers to the thought and civil and guarantee commitment of Mauro Mellini, lawyer, radical parliamentarian and former lay member of the CSM, in the belief that the principle of fair trial and the impartiality of the judge represent fundamental prerequisites for the credibility of justice and the protection of citizens’ rights.

The initiative is promoted by the journalist Ilario Ammendolia, the lawyer Giampaolo Catanzariti, the entrepreneur Andrea Cuzzocrea, the writer Mimmo Gangemi, Pasquale Simari and the mayor of Roghudi Pierpaolo Zavettieri.

These include the former parliamentarians Renato Meduri, Saverio Zavettieri, Silvia Vono and Enza Bruno Bossio, the former president of the Province of Reggio Calabria and MEP Umberto Pirilli, the attorney general emeritus of Catanzaro Otello Lupacchini, the former mayor and former president of Anci Calabria Gianluca Callipo.
