The drug gang that operated in the heart of the southern urban belt of the city, among the ruins and weeds of the former popular neighborhoods of Guarna and Caridi where they had set up their headquarters, dealt drugs in the open, met suppliers and allies, and settled issues related to internal fibrillations did not have the caliber of a gang or a typically mafia group. A gang without mafia rank but with important ambitions. They aimed high in business and to climb, albeit starting from the bottom rung, the hierarchies of the ‘ndrine of southern Reggio. A fact that the investigators obtained from the telephone conversations picked up by the police bloodhounds but above all from the pizzini found in the hideout of the boss with whom he interacted with one of the main scions of the city’s ‘Ndrangheta of the time, Maurizio Cortese, then the leader of the new generations of the Serraino gang and now a collaborator of justice.
