Great turnout at National archeologic museum, in these unusual spring days. Between school trips, tourists and visitors, the Museum is in vibrant excitement every day. In addition to the visits, organized or impromptu, there are cultural events that the MArRC welcomes and promotes, in synergy with the realities active in the area.
Among these, the conference proceedings will be presented on Tuesday 14 May on the spectacular terrace of the MArRC “Archaeological parks. Analysis and proposals”held on 16 and 17 June 2022 in the main hall of the Rectorate of the University of Messina.
The volume, edited by the art historian Silvia Mazza, published by the Federico II Foundation as part of an agreement between the latter and the Peloritano University, is dedicated to the memory of the prof. Gioacchino La Torre, professor of classical archeology at the Peloritana University, who had curated the conference together with Mazza, passed away prematurely just a few days before the opening of the works.
After the introduction by the director of the Museum Fabrizio Sudano, they will speak with the curator Massimo Cultraro, research director of Cnr-Ispc Catania, Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences; Alessandro Garrisi, president of the National Archaeologists Association; Gabriella Tigano, director of the Naxos-Taormina archaeological park; Fabrizio Mollo, associate of Classical Archeology at Dicam (Department of Ancient and Modern Civilizations), who will also bring the greetings of the Rector of the University of Messina, Giovanna Spatari.
The publication analyzes the situation of archaeological parks in Italy and Sicily in four sessions with an interdisciplinary approach: the first dedicated to universities and research institutes, with a component of archaeologists, architects, ethno-anthropologists, economists and jurists; two sessions respectively reserved for state experiences and those of the Sicilian Region; one intended for the opinion of the associations.
