The Court of Appeal of Reggio Calabria has ruled two convictions for the alleged responsible for the arson attack for extortion purposes against the owner of a tobacco shop in the Ravagnese districta few tens of meters from the Strait airport. Both sentences were redetermined: Antonio Morabito to 10 years and 4 months in prison; and Riccardo D’Anna to 3 years, 10 months and 20 days of imprisonment.
The charges supported by the Prosecutor’s Office were mafia association (only for the first) and attempted extortion by damaging the shutter of a tobacco shop in the southern area of the city with flammable liquid. The “Cornet Factory” operation at the time of the events revolved around the video surveillance images which on the night of the arson raid captured all the dynamics and the moped on which a person, after setting the fire, fled.
